ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) – The Roanoke Redevelopment and Housing Authority (RRHA) launches its “Jobs Plus” program with two days of fun events for community members.
The two-day launch will include a Community Partner Resource Fair from 1-4 p.m. on Friday, March 25, followed by a Family Day event from 1-3 p.m. on Saturday, March 26 at Jamestown Place in Southeast Roanoke.
The RRHA says the event will feature some of the organization’s community partners, as well as the opportunity to volunteer and help plan events to encourage community engagement. Straight Street and the RRHA’s first Wellness Truck Rodeo will also be in attendance.
“My goals for the Jobs Plus program are to increase our residents’ access to life-changing services and support their goals in a way that is both nurturing and relational,” said the Jobs Plus program manager. , Melissa Gish. “I want every resident to know and trust our program, but also to start relying on each other for community support and to take ownership and investment in their community.”
According to organizers, the program had a soft launch earlier this year at Jamestown Place, Indian Rock Village and some scattered sites, generating great interest with several residents already going through admissions and assessments.
