ESCANABA — Melissa Sue Isaacson, 40, of Escanaba, died Jan. 31, 2022 at Marquette General Hospital.

Melissa was born on September 15, 1981, the daughter of Jamie Lynn (Peterson) Humbert. She graduated from Escanaba High School in 1999. She had one daughter, Alexis (Lexi) Lynn Isaacson, Wells, Michigan. She was a member of the Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians.

Melissa previously worked at Issues and Answers. She was instrumental in starting the local business as office manager.

She is survived by her partner, Shakeem Murray, Escanaba, Mich.; his daughter, Alexis (Lexi) Isaacson, Wells, Michigan; half-brother, Michael (Danicia) Humbert, Escanaba, Mich.; aunt Nancy (her “Super Nanny”) and Uncle Steve Tufnell, Wells, Michigan; uncles, Ron Johnson, Escanaba, Mich., Robert Peterson, Cheboygan, Mich.; aunts, Jodi Peterson, Hart, Mich., Cindy Markham, Kipling, Mich. and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Melissa was predeceased by her mother, Jamie Lynn Humbert; his grandparents, Robert and Dorothy Peterson; aunt Sherry Johnson and uncle Larry Peterson.

Visitation will be from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, February 6 at Christ the King Lutheran Church, 1230 N 18th St. Escanaba. A memorial service will follow as well as a breakfast in the parish hall.

The family is assisted by the Skradski family funeral home in Escanaba.
