Laura Lee Walker, 60 of Orem, UT, died suddenly on November 11, 2022. She was born on February 2, 1962 to James Joe Walker and Winifred Marie Earhart in Salt Lake City, Utah. She also had three brothers. Jim and Winnie later divorced. In 1972 Jim married a widow, Jeanne (Kincaid) Cooper, who also had four sons, whom he adopted. With this marriage, five new brothers and sisters were born and an adoptee was added, making hers a blended family of 14 children.
The family bought an orchard in the foothills of Mount Timpanogos in Orem, and they all lived together pruning trees, picking fruit, milking cows, and enjoying life on the farm. The family moved around the Midwest for about nine years and returned to Orem when they were adults.
Laura’s life and career included: 18 months as a missionary in the Chili Osorno Mission, several years as a nanny in California, a cook at a local daycare, and a cleaner at Cirque Lodge. Eventually, around the age of 50, Laura found her passion and became a healing massage therapist, eventually having her own studio. Many of his many beloved clients called him “The Muscle Whisperer”.
She lived her life adoring her only son, Forrest, and filled her life with music, literature, humor, a love of nature, the healing power of the universe, and caring for people. others. She was almost considered a second mother to her many nieces and nephews, especially Rylee as well as Forrest’s friends. Laura will be remembered most for her genuine love and concern for the welfare of everyone she met. She made everyone feel so special and especially loved. Even in death, she continues to help others by being an organ donor.
Laura’s last days were spent surrounded by her son, Mama Jeanne, four of her siblings, and some of her many nieces and nephews, and all of their incredible love for her.
Laura is survived by Forrest Walker of Orem, UT; mom Jeanne Walker of Orem, UT; Carey (David) Jordan of Gainesville, Missouri; Bob (Dani) Walker of Brimson, MO; Tom Walker of Pasadena, California; David (Kathi) Walker of Layton, Utah; Todd and Wade Walker of Orem, Utah; Joe (Tina) Walker of Colorado Springs, CO; Kathi (Robert) Shunn of Hereford, Arizona; Ben (Amanda) Walker of Highland, Utah; Holly (Brad) Ericksen of Clinton, Utah; several nieces and nephews: and his mother Winnie of Salt Lake City, UT.
In addition to her father, Jim, she was predeceased by her brothers, Monte and Kevin and a sister, Heather.
A dinner and celebration of life for Laura will be held Wednesday, November 16, 2022, from 5 to 8 p.m. in the Orem East Stake Center Cultural Hall at 80 S 280 E, Orem, UT for the family and her and the close to Forrest Friends.
